Come one, come all, to this favorite annual downtown event! Your family will love the live music and beautiful spring flowers in the Aeneas Building garden, and don’t forget to bring some cash for food and drinks—just $1 each, and all proceeds go to JDDC!

If you’re a fan of Louisiana cookin’, you won’t want to miss the Scarlet Rope’s Project and Town & Country, Inc., Realtors’ Crawfest at the farmers’ market! Whether you’re there for the games, music, drinks, or the coveted Donut Truck, your family is bound to have a blast.

Spring Plant Sale

Location: UT Gardens (605 Airways Boulevard)
Cost: Free (cash or check only for purchases)
Time to stock up on flowers, trees, and everything in between! Shop the UT Gardens’ incredible selection (cash or check only), or just stroll the aisles and take in the colors and smells of spring.

West Tennessee Warrior Run
Date: Saturday, May 25
Time: Registration 6:00 A.M. - 6:30 A.M.; race begins at 7:00 A.M.
Location: Gadsden United Methodist Church (20210 US-79 in Gadsden)
Cost: $50
The Jackson Roadrunners Association are unstoppable, and this spring they’re challenging you to a half-marathon across Crockett County, starting at Gadsden United Methodist Church. If you’re the competitive type, be encouraged that you’re competing for trophies, but those running just for fun can enjoy a participation medal and t-shirt. And you can feel good knowing all proceeds go to the Crockett Christmas Store to ensure a happy holiday for local children in need.

Simply Southern
Date: Friday, May 10
Time: 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.
Location: Madison Downs (4506 U.S. 45 Bypass)
Cost: $125 for individual ticket; $1,000 for group of eight (sponsorships also available)
Time to get all dressed up for this evening of Southern class to benefit the Kirkland Cancer Center. This year’s theme is bourbon, bowties, and bluegrass, so dress accordingly and get ready for a night of fabulous food and fun and Madison Downs!
Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She lives with her husband Jordan and daughter November in Midtown and loves her community at City Fellowship Baptist Church.
