We’re huge supporters of the life-changing work that happens at Youth Town, and every year they sell ribs to raise money for their residential treatment facility. Stop by the farmers’ market on August 31 to purchase some meat for your fam, knowing that the profits are going to an incredible local non-profit. Can’t make it? Don’t worry—they’ll be back at the market in December.

Explore: Everything you could need for a wedding
West TN Bridal Festival

Date: Sunday, August 11

Location: Carl Perkins Civic Center (400 South Highland Avenue)
Cost: $5 for individuals; $20 for groups of five

Every bride needs some help planning a wedding, but the West TN Bridal Festival is going to be a step above your traditional bridal show. In addition to the fashion show hosted by Rina’s Bridal Boutique, guests will also get to enjoy dozens of Instagram photo opps, endless door prizes, and even a mock wedding utilizing the various event vendors—wow! Best of all, all proceeds go to the STAR Center right here in Jackson.

Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She lives with her husband Jordan and daughter November in Midtown and loves her community at City Fellowship Baptist Church.
