Say “thanks” for all Crime Stoppers does for our community with an evening full of fine dining, entertainment, and socializing at the 2nd Annual Law Enforcement Ball. 9th Annual Night in the Caribbean

Any Beatles fans out there? Join the Dream Center at the Civic Center for their ninth annual, one-of-a-kind fundraiser. Between tunes from Kaleidoscope Eyes and a tasty dinner to the auction and testimonies, you won’t want to miss this “Night in the Caribbean.”

If you’re looking for a cozy bowl of chili during the winter days, don’t miss the 2nd Annual Guns & Hoses event, where local radio, Hub City Brewing and Bancorp South are coming together to support Jackson’s First Responders. Whether you’re just coming to enjoy the live music, silent auction, and beer tasting or are competing in the chili cook-off and cornhole tournament, it’s bound to be a Saturday full of fun for adults (ages 21+ only).

First Sunrise Hike

Location: Pinson Mounds (460 Ozier Road, Pinson)

If you’re more of a morning bird than a night owl, skip the midnight New Year’s Eve party and join Ranger Lane Erwin at Pinson Mounds for the First Sunrise Hike of 2019. Get the family there by 6:30 A.M. for the refreshing walk, then make sure to take a peek into the museum for some historic perspective on the area. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water and a flashlight, and register here.

Here’s a classic for your date night: The USJ Arts Guild will be performing The Great Gatsby this month! While we’re excited for the show, we’re even more eager to see the way the students transform the school library into a 20s-themed dining hall. Gather your favorite friends and go all in with flapper costumes, or catch the performance only on Friday or Sunday.
Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She lives with her husband Jordan and daughter November in Midtown and loves her community at City Fellowship Baptist Church.
