The Dewald family has been lighting up our community every Christmas for years, and 2019 is no exception. Drive through their eclectic decor any night between now and New Year’s Day, and make sure to pop by on Saturday, December 21, to meet Santa!

First Annual Holiday Mission Market

Bring your cash to the first annual Holiday Mission Market at Union University, where you can purchase decor, clothing, jewelry, and more for everyone on your list. Plus, bring your kids to take photos with Santa, make cookies with Mrs. Claus, and create a few crafts to take home.

Explore: The Legend of St. Nicholas
St. Nicholas Festival

Learn about the saint who started it all! Join St. Nicolas Orthodox Church in celebration of their namesake, where you can pictures with St. Nick himself! In addition to favorite kids’ activities and crafts, there will also be church tours with Byzantine Iconography, as well as unique Greek and Russian dishes for purchase (preorder here). Admission is free, but consider bringing a few canned goods for their food drive.

Travel back in time to Jesus’ birth with Malesus United Methodist Church’s drive-through nativity. Enjoy beautiful costumes and live animals to bring the Christmas story to life for your family.


Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She lives with her husband Jordan and daughter November in Midtown and loves her community at City Fellowship Baptist Church.
