Jackson’s Magical, Musical Christmas Parade
Date: Monday, December 3
Time: 6:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Location: Downtown Jackson
Cost: Free!
A Jackson holiday classic, the annual downtown Christmas parade is the perfect way to kick off the season with the family. Floats from all sorts of local businesses and non-profits will fill Main Street, and our good friend Nell Hunstpon will be serving as Grand Marshal to lead this colorful parade. And make sure to come early at 5:15 P.M. to see the Christmas tree light up!

4th Annual Our Jackson Home Holiday Show
Date: Friday, December 14
Time: 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Location: theCO (541 Wiley Parker Road)
Cost: $10 donation (free for children under age 12)
Now in its fourth year, our annual Holiday Show is bound to be unforgettable as ever. This year, performers include LOLO, Coopertheband, Forked Deer Homeschool Parade, The Skeleton Krew, and The Jukes, and we’re excited to try out the new location of the Hamilton Performing Arts Center at the University of Memphis at Lambuth. To extend the festivities, we’re also hosting an #OJHshop Pop-Up at The Bakers Rack downtown from 9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., so make sure to shop for everyone on your list. And don’t forget, all concert proceeds go to support RIFA’s Snack Backpack program; plus, get $1 off your pop-up purchase for every four cans you bring to donate!

Christmas in the City

Yet another recent Jackson tradition, the annual Christmas in the City event has quickly become a family favorite in downtown—maybe it has something to do with the live reindeer! Immerse yourself in a winter wonderland created by dozens of local non-profits celebrating all the ways the community has supported them throughout the year. Kids will love meeting Santa, making handmade ornaments, and getting their photo with Elsa and Olaf, and parents are bound to enjoy eating, shopping, and singing as they explore the span of the farmers’ market.

Holiday Hustle 3.0

Always wondering how to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Jackson? Do it up right with the Habitat for Humanity Dream Builders Gala. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up and enjoy an evening of fine dining, music, and games in the historic New Southern Hotel. Plus, what better way to resolve to help those in need for 2019?
Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She lives with her husband Jordan and daughter November in Midtown and loves her community at City Fellowship Baptist Church.
