Hello Jackson: Yarbro's Antique Mall

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to go shopping for antiques, and Yarbro’s Antiques has always been one of the best places to go in Jackson to find a great variety. Yarbro’s is made up of booths stocked by a variety of sellers. Some dealers specialize in collectibles such as linens, military items, or glassware, and others sell things like seasonal decor or restored furniture. There is a little bit of everything with prices ranging from $1 all the way to $10,000. It would be difficult to go in and not find something you must have!

Yarbro’s was opened in the mid-1980s by Carl Yarbro. His daughter took over after his death and sold the business to the current owners, Barry and Jerolyn Nerren in 2007. They also moved their business, Nerren’s Floor to Ceiling, which they opened in 1999, into the Yarbro’s building. Olivia’s Closet, a children’s consignment store, is also located in the back of the store. All three of these businesses are locally owned and great shopping destinations.

The Nerrens are native Jacksonians and high school sweethearts. They have two children and have stayed very active in the community and their church. One of the main reasons shopping locally is so important is that a higher percentage of the profits are put back into the city’s economy. Yarbro’s is a great example of this because the Nerrens not only support the Jackson economy themselves, but they also provide space for other entrepreneurs to run a business. Each individual booth in Yarbro’s Antiques is stocked by a different dealer, which is why you can find such a great variety. One of my favorite booths there always has a great selection of vintage cameras. I have several of my grandfather’s old cameras on display in my home, and Yarbro’s has helped me add to that collection!

Yarbro’s not only provides a great place for Jackson residents to shop, but it brings many tourists to the area. Because of the close proximity to I-40, travelers often see the sign and stop in just to see what they might find. Collecting antiques is an exhilarating hobby. You never know where you might find that one thing you’ve spent years searching for! There are many customers who stop by on a regular basis in their travels.

With the holidays fast approaching, a trip to Yarbro’s Antique Mall may be just the thing you need to get your shopping done! I can almost guarantee you could find something for every person on your list.

Yarbro’s Antique Mall is located at 350 Carriage House Drive, and they are open seven days a week. Check their Facebook page for updates in booths and new items. They can be reached at 731.664.6600.
